Program 24 - Kevin Mitschelen

Welcome to healing the land with Kevin Mitschelen, brought to us by pure assembly.

This is Kevin Mitschelen with healing the land and I am grateful again that you're able to be a part of this show you being listened to this program. Today is another one of those days where every now and then I'm just kind of do like a sort of a fireside chat, so to speak. And just some, it's more of just being able to lay some things that have been on my heart. And and hopefully, they're receptive to your heart as well. Being that we, many of you who listen to this program, you love Jesus Christ. And so that's why you're here. And so I'm so grateful that you are, I love Jesus Christ as well. And so between the two of us actually, this, we've actually been very blessed. We've got quite the community here, that's this listening to the program. And and so but between us as believers in Christ, I hope you take comfort in what you're hearing, I take hope you take some courage as to hearing from other people in the past, about Jesus Christ and what's going on in their in their life in their world, how they see God healing the land, Healing Hearts healing people. And and so that's that's what this show is really concentrated around and about. And let me just share a while I'm just kind of talking and do this fireside chat a little bit. And that is that when you hear pure what is that course the program's name is healing land, but pure really is an acronym. And I need to address this every now and then as its stands for prayer. So that's the P part prayer. So you'll hear on this program, often we're going to talk about prayer, and the importance of prayer and the power of prayer. And we will say that over and over and over and over again, before you're going to have any kind of revival within your own heart. There has to be prayer. That really what that basically is, is we're communicating with the one true God. And what a wonderful powerful thing, just in that, that element of our ability to speak to the one that spoke the world into existence. What a privilege and honor that is so and then the you part of pure is unity we will talk about a lot of different scripture revolves around unity of believers. And you will see that in in the Bible, john chapter 17, I think is probably one of the premier scriptures where you can go to with Jesus Christ, Himself, our Savior, the Messiah, he prayed for unity for future believers. And so just go to john sub 17, if you don't have It's been a while go john chapter 17. And just to catch that one more time, and then we have repens. You know, that's the one thing I'm going to talk about in just a little bit, we're actually going to go a little bit touched the book of Job. So if you hang with me, I'd really like to be able to get this part out. And that is we're going to talk about repentance, and what that looks like. And that that is important. We need to be able to understand that when what is repents is me going or you those listening are just simply going one direction, and then God, then through some revelation to our heart, we experienced the idea and, and this idea, and that is that we're going away from God. And what God does is he, there's a conviction on our heart and we then turn 180 degrees and we say, I'm not going to do that anymore.

And there's a repentance that takes place. And that has to happen. That is something in which we need to be what we have to be able to give up those things in which are not of God and we're coming in and we are pursuing God, guess what God is pursuing us. We need to pursue God. And that's really a lot of where this program is gonna go today. But then, this other part of the word pure is edification one we want to we want to edify we want to give glory and praise to our Father God. And also there's something on that's the vertical level, but also there's something on the horizontal level in the horizontal level is we want to also look at our brothers and sisters in Christ and we want to be able to notice the gifts that they've been given and guess what the gifts that we have been given. Once we have repented and accepted Jesus Christ is our personal Savior. No, as I said, repenting and then ask for Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. There's there's a new beginning in us. And at that point, we have a spiritual gift gifting that's been given to us it's it's in Scripture and So, at that point, then we can go to our brothers and sisters in Christ, and we can, you know, maybe you have a gift to teaching, maybe you have the gift of administration, maybe there's other gifts, that that there's a bunch of different gifts and those gifts then can be given, actually helped to help the body of Christ, within the church of Christ. So that's pure, that's I'm sure there's so many different other words that we can come up with. But those four have really been something I've really looked at cherished. And so the part that we are, I want to address today is the area and idea of repentance. And when I take a look at this, I look at the story of Job. And here's a guy that, to be honest with you with this, when I can look at Genesis I can look at all the way pretty much through to Revelation, and I can I see the nature of God, you know, just plastered throughout the whole scripture, a part of, of the Bible. And when I take a look, at Genesis, I see a God who's created the earth. And I see, I see a God that that has formed something from nothing, and just everything is completely again, it's the wonder and amazement of God. And I see a God who, who has created this incredible, beautiful Eden. And then he places two human beings in there, and then we guess what we, we, we mess it up. We have this desire to just go our own way. And, and I see Genesis, and I see where God has this redemptive plan. And then I see all the way to the New Testament and and that all that makes sense, where this this relationship that God has with the nation of Israel, and I see the his relationship with Israel and Israel, then in many cases, may times will defy God, but God still loves. God still holds, and is merciful. And I look at that. And then I see the New Testament and Jesus comes along and he brings in the Age of Grace, he brings in the age then where once he, once he dies, he rises again. And then he goes to his father. There's the age of the church in which is now in which we are presently in now. And then we see what's going to come and that is the book of Revelation as well. But there's one book in the Bible that the Bible is a series of books. And when I, when I take a look at that book, at most of my adult life, I didn't know what to do with the book of Job. I just simply did not know how to handle this. Because if you take a look at the very, very beginning of the book of Job

in the first chapter, my problem was I was never able to quite get past the first chapter. You've got this guy who says in the Bible says there was a man in the land of us. I love that name, by the way, million advice. I mean, yeah, I joked around a couple days ago about you know, sounds like the line of Oz, right? But it's the land of us. This would this story came way before the Wizard of Oz, the land of us whose name was job, and that man was blameless and upright one who feared God and turned away from evil. And then it goes on the fact it talks about, okay, so that's the premise there at the very beginning. And then it says there was born into born to him seven sons and three daughters. That's a lot of kids. He possess 7000, sheep, 3000, camels, 500 yoke of oxen, and 500, female donkeys, and many servants. So this guy's got, he's, this guy's got it all. And that goes on. I shouldn't stop so that so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the East. Once you stop and think about that for a second, that's kind of like, if, if, no matter what you think of this guy in the present day, and I don't know him, but Bill Gates, the Bill Gates, the guy, you know, Microsoft Bill Gates guy, or the Jeff Bezos write of the Amazon fortune, and also fame as well. If he walks into a room that you're in either one of these two people, you're going to recognize those guys, you just start. Now when I take a look at those two, two men, and again, I don't know their hearts, I don't know who they are. I'm not in any kind of position to judge but when I also think of them I first I don't think first in Tarrant terms of blameless and upright, I just don't I sorry, I don't, I don't put a they put those two at the same equation at the same mark. But it says that job, who feared God in turn away from evil, and so I'm perplexed, then in the next just few paragraphs then you have God in Satan conferring with each other. And God looks at Satan and Satan is talking to God and you know, have you. And there's this, there's this conversation, whether they're talking about job, and the fact that yes, he fears God and He is blameless. And Satan comes along, and he says, this, so let me just read this, I think this is important. Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord and Satan also came among them. The Lord said to Satan, From where have you come, Satan answered the Lord and said, from going to and fro from Earth, and from walking up and down on it, and the Lord said to Satan, have you considered my serving job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man who fears God and turns away from evil, then Satan answered the Lord and said, Does job fear God for no reason, have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has on every side, you have blessed the work of his hands in his in his possessions have increased in the land, but stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face. And the Lord said to Satan, behold, all that he has in your hand, only against him, Do not stretch out your hand. So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord. And to be honest with you that as an adult, I simply didn't know how to deal with that. So I put this story of Job to the side. I said, it seems rather odd to me, it seems out of character, for this guide, for me to take in the story of Job. And I wrestled with it because it seemed as though and this was my wrestling point, it seemed as though that God was loose was was lessening his grip, on job, that somehow, because of the allowance of these things, of, of the things of the earth, to happen to job, it seemed as though at least in my little mind, it seemed as though that God was releasing himself. And I simply did not know how to process that it's till about four or five years ago. And then the next part of this program, I hope you can hang with me, because this is the part that really explained to me, the love, the love of God, even in the story of Joe, because we know, many of us know what happened in that story. Right? He he had the incredible I mean, all the things I've mentioned, all those sheep all every all the animals that he had, and it would have been also involved with the servants as well. And his children, what happened is, his business was completely destroyed. All those of the animals everything had been had been abolished and destroyed.

children die. How horrific. I can't imagine something like that taking place. I can't I have two sons to put that on that individual context. Two sons, and I can't imagine if one of them died, it'd be terrible, be a terrible day, it would be a time of mourning. And then to have your health taken away. Some people said it might be leprosy or might have been scabies. We don't know what it was. But it was it was horrific, the kind of disease that this man had. And then to have these to put the cherry on the top of everything. You had these so called friends that we're trying to give them counsel and, and then you have a wife that says, just curse the ground and die. Well, I want to get back to that in just a few minutes here. We're going to take a break. But if you'll come back, and we're going to, we're going to see the love of God. So stick with us. I'll see you in a few seconds.

So this is Kevin Mitschelen with healing the land and I'm glad you're back for the second part of this program. This is something that really for the last four or five years I have been in awe of God since I've actually been able to take a look at some of the scripture in the in the book of Job before you do that. Before we go there, just want to let you know that hey, you know what we have? Really I'm excited to see different things that are taking place within the body of Christ here at within the northern Indiana area. We have Matter of fact, with pure assembly, some of the things that we're doing right now. I'm really, really stoked about we have some pastors and ministry leaders that are coming once a month over to Bethel University, we on average, you know, we're looking at pretty decent, nice little number that that's coming. But it's it's not about the numbers it's about, it really is not about the numbers, I just want to get that that clear, is not about those things. But instead, what I see is a passionate cry, a one cry of people that are coming together for an hour, once a month, who are saying, Hey, we desperately want to see unity within the body of Christ. We love Jesus Christ. And we're going to come together for one hour, and we're going to pray. We're going to pray. You know? I mean, how simple is that? And the first question I asked, usually, most of the meetings that we have, it's over at Bethel University. And the first question that I have for them is who loves Jesus? And because of his love for you, would you would you give your life for him, and there's 100% that raise their hand every time and they they should, right because they desperately love Jesus Christ. And so we put on a big boy pants or big girl pants, and we come to Bethel University once a month, if you're interested, if you're a pastor, if you're a ministry leader, then simply simply go to pure assembly, calm, pure assembly COMM And we'd be glad to be able to converse with you talk to you a little bit, and see if you would be something which would be of interest to have you over at Bethel University. So seeing all of that, I'm really excited to see that group of pastors coming together. And ministry leaders coming together, we come from a, it's pretty diverse, we have a lot of different folks. We need buddy from the Baptist to someone who charismatic, you know, so in different tones of skin color, if you know what I mean by that as well. So we, if you can't come to that, you know what we love to have you pray over that as well. So that we would just honored Jesus Christ, and on our father, through the working Holy Spirit. So saying all that I want to desperately, really get back into the book of Job where I was because this is something that's been really working on my heart. And I hope it can bless you, as well as, as we kind of read through some scripture here. When I go back, I look at the I want to kind of remind us just a little bit where we were. And that was, I was kind of, I want to go through the timeline, because there's a lot of chapters in the book of Job. And so there's no way I'm going to be able to hit each one in the matter of the minutes that I have. But I want to so I want to hit the real big highlights to run back your job is my first highlight that I have marked down here is Joe was a blameless guy. And guess why he was rich, the guy was rich, he was blameless and rich, and those many times are like oil and water, it doesn't make any sense to have both of those two together. But this guy had it this this guy right here, you know, I can shake shakers, this guy had that going on. And then God and Satan talk. And job is there's gonna be a testing that's gonna take place. And then Joe has just about everything taken from him, as we were talking about before, just before the break, and even his health is being destroyed right before his eyes. And you know, I mentioned his wife just briefly right beforehand, she says you don't want to just curse the ground and die. You know, I kind of when I first heard that, like, well, wife, you know that that what kind of woman is this, but think about all the things that have happened to this man. His business is completely destroyed. Everything that he had worked for is completely gone. His his health is completely wiped out. And his children that that's his legacy that's going to come You know, his his the boys that he had, and the young leaves he had, that that is the part of him that would go beyond him. So it would seem and now that's destroyed as well. Then he has these so called friends that come out of young basically nowhere and they they start telling him giving giving him all kinds of different instruction that's not of God.

And I can see why his wife would say what she did, I really can from a world's perspective, you know, if you can imagine this, put it in modern translation, and that is that I mentioned Bill Gates earlier. Okay, that's usually him, for example. There's a lot of millionaires out there, but he's kind of one of the most well known guys. So you got Bill Gates that comes and he has everything stripped and taken away from him. How would the world react to him? I think I have a pretty good idea. That'd be a lot of mocking that would be going on of your life. You thought you're so smart, blah, blah, blah, and all these things would would be coming a piling in heaping on top of him. And that's the way the world are in our sinful bodies. That's the way we work. It job would have had this on slot. Yeah, you thought you're so great. You thought you're so powerful. Yeah, you, you always treated people correctly. And you were you were, you're a good guy, you're good man. But Wow, what, look what you did, you must be cursed. That's the only thing you can come up with, you must be a curse man. And so his wife would have been echoing the same sentiment. God comes along. And he talks to job. And I don't know about you, but when the creator of your soul speaks to your soul, there's something that's powerful about that. And I love the fact that in the book of Job, this is written down. Where were you job when I laid the foundations of this earth? Where were you job when I made this animal or that animal? Where were you? Where were you? And the wonder and the all of God is being given in those precious chapters. And job takes that in and he received and this is the part that wrecked me was Job's response to that. You see, job could have either taken it and it was an act of bitterness. There's always a choice. In love. There is choice. But job I found this actually in the message translation. I hope you receive that says in Job chapter 40 to one through six.

status. This is job answering god. I'm convinced you can do anything. Excuse me. I'm convinced you can do anything and everything. Nothing and no one can upset your plans. You asked Who is this muddy in the water. ignorantly confusing the issue second half. second guessing my purposes. Job says I admitted I was the one I babbled on about things far beyond me made small talk about wonders way over my head. You told me listen and let me do the talking. Let me ask the questions and you give the answers. And I want us to grab on to the next few sentences here. Because this is what wrecked me. I admit I once lived by rumors of you. Now I have it all firsthand, from my own eyes and ears. I'm sorry, forgive me. I'll never do that again. I promise. I'll never again live on crust of hearsay, and crumbs of rumor. And some of the past shows you may have heard me make reference to this scripture. I'll never again live on crust of hearsay and crumbs of rumor Did you notice that at the very beginning of chapter one in the verse in the book of Job, and that beginning, it talks very clearly about the fact that job lived a blameless and upright he was blameless and upright and catch this though he feared God that's different than knowing God, there's a difference there one has total and complete respect in all of God, if you know God, you will have that. You see that? It reminds me of of something where on a personal note, I had a manager and many times in life, you will have you working for someone you will have a manager that's over you. And then some of the managers are really good somewhere Are you just kind of wish that you weren't there, so to speak, and I had a manager that could contest me at different times. God bless this guy. Really. Just bless him. And and we we can we after time, we just realized that we had different management styles. And he was trying to I think trying to show me how to how to manage in the way he did. And I bring this out because it has a purpose. And I noticed the one thing he one day he would he came up to me said Kevin, he says when you walk into a room, people should fear you it doesn't resonate well with my soul When I heard that it just took me off guard amok fear me and that's, that's different. I've never heard someone in my I took management and college and marketing and college and none of that ever came up in college. didn't make any sense to me, for him to say something like that. And what his point was, is, yeah, people should cower when you when when you walk into a room. Whereas It was interesting because the owner of that, that that company they didn't. He always had respect from his employees, he did not have fear from his employees. And I hope you grab on to that I hope we can grab on to that. And notice actually with this manager that as I give as an illustration that you could physically see the cowering when when someone would walk into the room, when he would walk into a room, there would be that that physical detachment that would be that, that oh, I better hurry up and do my job really quickly. Just so as long as he's in the room, I need to make sure and cower and that he actually light that God is not looking for that. That's not that's not the order of grace. But God is looking for something far different than that. What he's looking For is that relationship, what he's looking for, is to be able to, to move you He loves you enough to move you from one spot to the next. He's not just going to keep you in that one spot. And that's where job was. Joe was in a spot in which he was doing all what seemed to be the right things at the right moment and at the right time, but he was doing it for the wrong reason. Because there was a Karine from this God who could speak the world into existence, yes, but he had no idea who God was.

And so what I'm asking for us to do if we want to see God heal the land, we have to be willing to let him heal us first. In which, if you are going deep with God go deeper. When we mentioned earlier in the show about prayer, go deeper in prayer with him. If you're giving him 10 minutes a day, give him 20 minutes a day. That's double right. If you if you want to see unity, not just within the body of Christ, but be unified with the one true gun, try that first. The repentance, oh my goodness, if there's one thing that the Big C church doesn't do, is is in many, many cases is to actually teach repentance. We have to repent before the living God, I have to be asking God Lord God, oh, man, I thought I knew you. Oh, I need to know you better needed more. No you more. This is what we find in the book of Job. Show me your way, Lord, don't show Kevin's way. But Show me your way, your way and not mine. And Lord God from that, may I be able to lift up your body because it's about you. It's not about me. I give you all that. And I hope that we can no longer just live on the crumbs or the rumor of God. But that's that we would press in to find out who this God is. He's the God that gave up His Son, Jesus Christ. For God so loved the world that he gave his only buttons. That's the God that we serve. May we truly love him? Because he loves us. First. I hope that you will take what was just been stated, and that you will be able to go to God and run deeper with him. Run deeper with him, please. This God loves you. And if you get an opportunity go visit us on pure assembly. We'd love to be able to, to just have a conversation with you. In the meantime, hey, go to your church. support your local body of those who believe in Jesus Christ. That is where you're going to find so much healing as well. We love you. God bless you. And thank you for listening to another program of healing. Take care.

Second Chronicles 714. If my people who are called by my name, humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land.
